Premise[edit]
Players control the child who has fallen into the Underground, a large, secluded region under the surface of the Earth, separated by a magic barrier. The player meets various monsters during a quest to return to the surface, mainly through the combat system; the player navigates through mini-bullet hell attacks by the opponent and can opt to pacify or subdue monsters in order to spare them instead of killing them. These choices affect the game, with the dialogue, characters, and story changing based on outcomes.
Undertale and furry[edit]
Undertale won the award for "Best Anthropomorphic Game" in the 2015 Ursa Major Awards.[1]
So Sorry[edit]
Furry artist Samael backed the game via Kickstarter before its release, earning a character based on his fursona to be included in the game with a $1,000 donation. This character manifested as a hidden miniboss the player can encounter called So Sorry. Toby Fox, with Samael's permission, did tweak the character slightly to avoid association with Samael's own work, some of which is adult in nature.[2]
