The furries are ready for some fun
The furries are ready for some fun is an article about local furry fans participating in an annual event, "Hot August Nights". It was written by Megan L. Patrick and published in an August 2006 edition of The Lewiston Tribune, a paper covering Lewiston, Idaho and the surrounding area.
38-year-old University of Idaho student and furry fan Rex Wolf is heavily featured in the article. Wolf talks about his fursuit, Red Fox, and mentions an occasion when it cheered up a random woman that he met in an elevator. He also spoke of his excitement, looking forward to the event:
I'm very excited. It will be my first public costuming event. This is something I can do for people. It's satisfying. |
Wolf also defined the fandom, and mentioned the negative stigma imparted to fursuiting by shows such as CSI:
If you're going to sensationalize something, there's a lot to sensationalize there. But I tell people, it's just like the real world. There are always going to be groups or factions that have fetishes or do stuff like that behind closed doors. It doesn't define the fandom. |
Wolf mentions his affinity with "cute, furry woodland creatures", and said that the furs were "just here to make people happy . . . like everybody else, just more furry."
