Sooooo, not mention of Leda and the Swan? 124.171.166.83 03:40, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Unlike Other Religions?[edit]

So, while there are some significant differences between Christian and Islamic mythology and ancient Greek mythology-- foremost of course being that the latter believed in more imaginary beings than the former-- contrasting greek mythology with others by saying it "came from stories," and so on, is inaccurate. All religions of course come from making up stories. Meanwhile, Greek religious traditions are a fairly steady development from prehistory and the bronze age, and had monumental architecture, elaborate formal ritual, and all the other trappings of major & urban religions.

Moreover, if the real intent was to talk about ancient Greek religion, the article is titled incorrectly. But I think it's more approprite to the wiki that the article should discuss Greek mythology, not the "beliefs and rituals" of ancient greece, which indeed is ancient Greek religion. Discussion of religion per se, and contrasts with other religions, should be removed, since they're both misleading and off-topic. --Furthling 02:48, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
