Would it be worthwhile to have subcategories for common themes, such as multi-theme, The Lion King-based, sword and sorcery...?

Following up on this, I think it would be a great idea to break up this category into multiple sub categories. I might give that a try in the future. --Dmuth 04:54, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Can anyone think of a good category name for multi-theme multiplayer worlds? The repeating of multi looks clunky to me. Most places seem to call them realms, and there's definitely a distinction between worlds with multiple themes/realms, and those without a defined theme. -- Sine 04:14, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Science Fiction multiplayer worlds

Thoughts on having a Science Fiction multiplayer worlds subcategory? It's terribly broad, but at least is less so than just this Multiplayer worlds, which is at an unwieldly size. -- Sine 00:25, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

I don't think it's possible to be narrower than science fiction, as most of the multiplayer worlds are based on original themes or on a mish-mash of Star Trek or Star Wars. -- Sine 00:29, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Defunct multiplayer worlds

Should there be a category for defunct multiplayer worlds (or else active multiplayer worlds, but would this also mean MU*s that were still around, but not inhabited)? Spaz Kitty 09:18, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

I don't think so, anymore than we have categories for presently-running publications or conventions (i.e., we don't in those cases, and I don't think we need one here). -- Sine 05:28, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Animal multiplayer worlds

What about Category:Animal multiplayer worlds for not physically anthropormorphic animals which are not necessarily wildlife. It could contain, or replace, Category:Wildlife multiplayer worlds, a number of which are at least partially about roleplaying domestic or feral animals (rather than strictly wildlife). Animal multiplayer worlds could contain Balto multiplayer worlds, The Lion King multiplayer worlds, and Watership Down multiplayer worlds , as well as some such as Guardians of the Sirist which are so far categorized only as Multiplayer worlds. -- Sine 21:38, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

To me, at least, they're interchangeable. I consider Meadows MUCK a wildlife-themed MUCK, although there are domesticated cats and dogs played on the MUCK. However, I'm all for inclusiveness (is that even a word? XD), so if "Animal" would include more subcategories and articles than "Wildlife" would, then a change might be for the better. Though I still think "Wildlife multiplayer worlds" sounds better than "Animal multiplayer worlds". Spaz Kitty 18:17, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

I think there's too much overlap and not enough of a clear distinction to keep Wildlife multiplayer worlds as a sub-category of Category:Animal multiplayer worlds, and therefore all articles under Wildlife multiplayer worlds should move to Animal multiplayer worlds, and the Wildlife category be deleted. Graphical multiplayer worlds?

Roleplaying forums

I think we could do with a distinct category for forum-based roleplaying games; there's some in this category, some in Category:Roleplaying games, and likely some scattered elsewhere. Category:Roleplaying forums or Category:Forum-based roleplaying games, perhaps? Or some other category name? -- Sine 23:17, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
