A Tale of Three Leopards by Betty Dinneen, illustrated by Jennifer Emry-Perrott, is a 1980 novel describing the early life of three cubs born to Chui, a leopardess in Nairobi Game Park. The firstborn is a black-furred male, Kali, the other two normally-spotted females, Pesi and Polepole. The Swahili names are given pronunciation and meaning in footnotes.
