Hi Jade, and welcome to WikiFur! Thanks for letting us know about Furry Fiesta.

A few things prevented us from using your work as posted:

• All material posted to WikiFur is placed under the GNU Free Documentation License, and news items are also placed under the Creative Commons Attribution license. You cannot reserve your copyright on material posted here, because that is incompatible with placing them under these licenses. If it is your intention to do so, it means we cannot use any of your words.
• We would not use that kind of wording anyway, because it is of a promotional tone. WikiFur aims to be a neutral news source, rather than a republisher of press releases. Imagine the sort of event announcement that you would see in a newspaper. You can see our convention news category for examples - here are some for RBW 2008, FCN 2008 and Califur 2007.
• As news items, once published, appear directly on the front page, it's a good idea to use the {{ready}} template instead once you think it's ready. The people reviewing the news article will change it to {{publish}} if they think that it is in a fit state to publish.
