User:65.30.52.215[edit]

Hello, could his edits to my wikifur page be removed of trolling so it can't be taken back. Thanks http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Tuqiri —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tuqiri (talkcontribs) .

The vandal edits made by 65.30.52.215 were reverted less than half an hour after they were made, and the user warned not to do it again. If there are any problems in future someone will block that IP address if necessary.--Higgs Raccoon 11:19, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

He is back filling my page with lies about the apparently "Stolen artwork" could you please lock it? -Tuqiri

The last edits made anonymously from 65.30.52.215 were in August, and I am not able to tell if any logged-in user has that IP address. Also, the "stolen artwork" section seems reasonable as references with pretty clear evidence were supplied. I'll put a 24-hour lock on it, though, due to the current edit-warrning--Higgs Raccoon 13:04, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

There is no reason why it should be there look at the discussion the artist herself wants it removed its the same person who did it since he used the term stolen artwork last time he trashed it

User:208.102.73.249[edit]

Just wondering... Did IP user 208.102.73.249 do anything to earn a block beyond creating a single article with a few gibberish characters? That seems to me to be more on the level of experimentation/sandboxing, and an "assume good faith" response would be to delete the article, post a reply suggesting that they use the sandbox for further experimentation, and no block. (A block would more likely be appropriate if they had been warned previously, had created or modified multiple articles, or if the added content was otherwise inappropriate such as trolling or spamlinks.) --mwalimu 19:22, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

I might have "assumed good faith" if it was just gibberish. The fact that the title of the article they created was an offensive term pushed it over the line into vandalism in my opinion.--Higgs Raccoon 19:31, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I wasn't familiar with that term. Now it makes more sense. --mwalimu 19:51, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Please Remove Me[edit]

Hi there, I was wondering if you could please remove me (xsystm47) from this site? I used to be a part of this fandom in high school but now I don't have the time to contribute to it. Thanks a lot.

--xsystm47

Hello,
Even if you no longer have time for the fandom, it wouldn't be a problem leaving the article active, or amending the text to indicate you're no longer part of the fandom. If you prefer to have it removed, can I ask if you still have access to any of the old accounts that were listed in the article (LiveJournal, Fur Affinity, etc)? If you could go to one of those and put a note somewhere asking for deletion, it would serve to verify your identity. If you no longer have access to those accounts, you might try speaking directly to an admin at the Wikifur IRC channel: http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/WikiFur:IRC --Higgs Raccoon 19:09, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Do not put me in this[edit]

This is Siegfried--I just found that not only is there a page for me, but it also had my birthdate, links to my LJ, weather station, and other items that are not directly associated with the fandom. That's not acceptable. I've blanked out my page--please remove it entirely and do not restore it.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.203.102.43 (talkcontribs) .

reversion[edit]

Thanks for the reversion.

Was doing some experimentation with templates and got nailed by a very inconvenient internet outage before I could clean up my own mess.

holy crap[edit]

I'm on wikifur! =3 --Jasper-bear 17:22, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

MrDisambiguation article[edit]

Dear Good Sir, Tamiasthechipmunk has been vandalizing that article by only posting positive stuff about Dimorious, meanwhile the evidence is here: File:NFM.png Please can you undo his edited version and the article will not be redone anymore. --ImperialismBeatsCommunism 00:00, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Then you'll be happy and, instead, Tamias will be asking for a revert. So no; I'm not sure what's to be done with this article, but the back-and-forth edit war isn't getting anywhere. I don't have the time so I'm going to leave the temporary block stand for now.--Higgs Raccoon 00:33, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Priest22[edit]

Regarding the banning of Priest22 and the image he had uploaded which you subsequently deleted, he is probably the IP user who attempted to update Manawolf with this edit, which I reverted. I did in fact check out the DVD link from that edit and did not see any clear indication that the person portrayed was Manawolf; it's possible but beyond them having the same first name (Sarah) I couldn't find anything on the site to make that connection. Even the word 'furry' in the DVD title appears to refer to the actress having never shaved rather than as any sort of reference to the fandom.

Even if it is Manawolf I doubt this belongs on Wikifur. The DVD cover is inappropriate regardless, and the fact that someone appeared in an adult video is in my opinion controversial information that needs good references and needs a good reason to be publicized here.

My only concern is whether giving Priest22 an infinite ban is appropriate in case it turns out that really is Manawolf in the DVD. If it's not her, then yes. If it is her, we should assume good faith and treat it as a case trying to post controversial/derogatory information. And if we don't know, well... I'm not sure. --mwalimu 18:11, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Stamping out vandalism[edit]

First, thank you for reverting the vandalism made to one of my articles from an unregistered IP. Though I monitor these articles, you caught it even before I did. Which brings me to a question... right now I'm new to WikiFur, but I support the concept and ideals. I'm also online an insane amount of the time. If I were to want to join the edit patrol at some point in the future, is there a "formal" application process (as there is for wiki admins), or can one just jump in and help? Thanks! --CodyDenton 08:28, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Cody. There's no formal process for joining those who patrol the recent edits reverting vandalism. This being a wiki, anyone can edit anything, so if you have the time to spare to occasionally glance at the recent changes list, and feel like reverting any vandal edits, then... go for it! I'm sure everyone here would welcome any effort you can put in to keeping things tidy!--Higgs Raccoon 17:16, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi Higgs, thanks for the info. A few more questions, if I may? First, I noticed that you added Template:ContributorU to my friend Mishi's user page. I almost had done that a few hours ago myself, but backed out of it since I wasn't sure that a general (non-admin) editor was permitted to edit another User: page. (Ref. User Talk:Spirou) So for instance, in this case, would it have been OK to add the ContributorU, particularly since Mishi and I are friends and work collaboratively? Or is it best to just avoid the User: page minefield?  ;-) Also, with regard to the content spammer earlier that you blocked, I had just blanked the page and put an edit comment as to why. Would it have been better to use a Speedy Deletion tag instead? Thanks for your patient help. --CodyDenton 11:10, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank You[edit]

Thank you for moving those pages, I was unaware of the importance of that moving, instead of C/P. --LokiWuff 21:53, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the edits![edit]

Howdy again Higgs, thanks for the edits on Rehgan's page. The formatting tweaks look nice, and I don't know how I managed to forget the categories and stub tag, LOL... Thanks for the keen eye. --CodyDenton 17:58, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Skiltek[edit]

You deleted my character page while I was working on it in order to rename it after I had already renamed it.

This resulted in my losing half an hour of edit work.

If you're going to delete a page, please check if it has any recent revisions.

Tek Skiltaire 20:12, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Skiltek, you deleted the contents of "Skiltek" by changing it to a redirect to "Foxmajik", and then started a new page there. That is not how things are done here as it destroys the edit history of the original article. I have corrected this by restoring it and moving it instead - now the edit history is retained. Having moved the article, I copied over the text from your last edit on Foxmajik (made 16 October 2010, at 20:01) so nothing was lost.
Also, conversations should go on User Talk pages (like this one), not Article Talk pages (like Talk:Higgs Raccoon where you originally posted this). The former are for general discussions with a particular User. The latter are reserved for discussions only about the content of corresponding Articles. --Higgs Raccoon 20:31, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Please Remove Me[edit]

Hey i was wondering if you could delete my page, it seems people keep on adding to it even though im not in the fandom for over a year now, and my roomate is all over my page saying its me. so yea, kindly delete my page http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/JaxHusky

Thanks. Jack—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.80.112.31 (talkcontribs) .

Normally we make an attempt to verify someone's identity before deleting their page, so as to prevent third parties from impersonating people and having pages removed. What I usually do is get them to leave a note like "please delete me from wikifur" on (for example) their Fur Affinity page. But if you *are* JaxHusky you've been banned from there so that won't work. You might try heading to the WikiFur IRC channel (http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/WikiFur:IRC) and seeing if there's an admin there with whom you can talk directly.--Higgs Raccoon 00:09, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

FurPlanet Talk page[edit]

Hi, I was just wondering what kind of spam was being posted to this page? It either of the owners of FurPlanet so I was wondering what was up.--FuzzWolf 23:45, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

The page Template_talk:FurPlanet was hit twice today by spam. Just a generic piece of text and a link to an external site not relevant to the page. They've been deleted, so you needn't worry about them (Spam happens from time to time).--00:09, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

New to Wikifur[edit]

Hey there,

I noticed that you added me to Wikifur as a stub. http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Dakota_Jaymes I was wondering what I can do to contribute to it?

And thanks for adding me to the database.

-Dakota

Hi Dakota, welcome to WikiFur.
What might you add to the article about yourself? If you look at other people's articles, they may give you some ideas. One thing that occurs to me is a few sentences on what your fursona is. (You describe yourself as a "Kurasune", but I was unable to work out exactly what that is, except it's probably part-kitsune.) Perhaps also describe when and how you came to find the furry fandom.
An image of your fursona wouldn't be a bad addition, either, if you have one you care to upload.--Higgs Raccoon 22:45, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Higgs,

I placed a journal entry on my FA User Page requesting you to please lock my WikiFur page and delete my account. Just doing some clean up.

Dumb Question[edit]

Hey again,

Out of curiosity, is it okay to post a reference sheet of my character on my personal page so others can see, and if so, how can I go about doing that?

DJaymes 19:30, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Dakota,
By "personal page", do you mean your personal user page, or the article about you? In either case (or both) the inclusion of a reference sheet would be fine. To include any image, you'll need to upload it first. You'll need to be logged in to do this, then look to the column on the left side of the screen - under "toolbox" there's a link that says "Upload file".
After you've uploaded a file (it's pretty straightforward, but remember to give the file a meaningful name), it can be included in an article by inserting some text like:
[[Image:Filename.jpg|right|thumb|200px|Caption text]]
--Higgs Raccoon 20:00, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Please remove my page[edit]

As you have probably noticed, my page is a complete mess. The circumstances for making it in the first place were a little iffy, and the original contents were something I was actually less than comfortable with, even though I was the one who supplied the orginal information. I'm very self-conscious, so after a bit of arguing (with myself, no less. ;)), I decided to just try to kill the weed at it's roots. Could you please delete my page? I have a Fur Affinity account, a WordPress account, and even a Twitter, so I can very easily prove I am he. Or, if it is at all possible, could you remove the edit history? I would actually prefer the removal of the history rather than total deletion.

Thank you,

- Rorroh

Hello, Rorroh,
Sometimes, if someone is requesting personal exclusion, I get them to leave a comment to that effect on their FA or wherever, but as you created the article in the first place I'll take that as enough proof of identity. I've deleted the article and locked it. If you change your mind in future, and want it unlocked so edits can resume, you can ask any admin to do it.--Higgs Raccoon 22:11, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
Thank you, I can rest much easier now.

My apologies[edit]

I apologize sincerely for any inconvenience experienced. It's just I've been trying to prove to some people that that article is valid for this site. So they required changes, and it goes on, so anyways sorry for any trouble I may have caused. I will work on becoming more technically apt. Sincerely, Perservere 20:26, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Getting an article to "conform to wiki standards"[edit]

Hi there, could you please tell me what I need to do to get http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Snowpocalypse "to conform to Wiki standards"? Originally I was told I needed to make it longer to contain more information, and when I did an Admin deleted it saying "the information was redundant as it was listed on the external website". Help me please? We only have a month before this event and I don't want this sitting in an archive not displayed to the general public for any longer!

Thanks! Yarrick 22:42 13 February 2011 (CST)

User talk:189.47.7.137[edit]

Sorry, Im not from arround here... Wiki fur is still a bit new for me... I mean I Know for some years, but only about some small time I created courage to edit it...

And I was only thinking into saving my Legend of Zelda article...

Please do not bulk-edit my talk page[edit]

I appreciate your attempt to revert what probably looked like vandalism, but I would greatly appreciate it if you did not make structural changes to my talk page.

I made the edit to my own talk page, it's ok.

Shentino 22:26, 3 April 2011 (CEST)

I would welcome your opinion[edit]

If you have a moment to spare, could you look at Zidonuke, the article - specifically the edit history, please? There was a couple of references to bannings which he had reverted. I looked at them and they were referenced, but the wording was somewhat non-NPOV in my view. So I added a simple statement of fact about the bans with the references cited, and that's been reverted as well. At the risk of sounding clueless, is this an instance where the subject of the article should override other editors? Myself, I think that being banned from SL and from F-List, the latter with some amount of comment and so forth, would be justifiably included in the article, but I am not an experienced editor by any means; if this is an example of where I should just leave well enough alone, please let me know for my future guidance? Thank you. --GingerM (Leave me a message) 06:58, 4 April 2011 (CEST)

Dur - I meant to also say, I did ask User:Zidonuke on his talk page why he reverted it, so perhaps I'll gain some understanding from him as well. Thanks again. --GingerM (Leave me a message) 07:00, 4 April 2011 (CEST)
Hmmm. You could perhaps start a discussion about this on the article's talk page, where others editors and admins will see it. We don't like to create conflict, but at the same time shouldn't be censoring and sugar-coating articles. I guess you could debate whether or not Zidonuke's bans are noteworthy. My gut feeling is that they're a borderline case but probably worth including if there are references (as your edit had) and (if possible) a word of explanation about why he was banned.--Higgs Raccoon 13:23, 6 April 2011 (CEST)

Exclusion of steampunk[edit]

I'm curious as to why you've just reverted my whole edit contribution so far.

Have you seen the edit history for Steampunk? It was deleted years ago, quite reasonably, because there was a bigger and possibly better article at wikipedia:Steampunk. However this "manual redirect" was never coded so that links can then work properly. Articles that referred to it, such as Grandville, then had to hard-code the redirect on each article. This is just poor use of MediaWiki.

You deleted the redirect on the grounds that off-wiki redirects were against Wikifur practice. This is simply untrue: it's what's implied by the deletion comment for the old Steampunk article and, more obviously, it's what you did yourself when you re-added the redirect in Grandville. Using a redirect page is simply good practice for MediaWiki - it centralises the redirect so that all WikiFur links to steampunk go through one clear article on it. This can be either local or, as here, a remote article at Wikipedia.

If there's a ban on links that redirect to Wikipedia, then that should be removed from Grandville.

If there's a ban on off-wiki redirects other than those to Wikipedia (using Wikipedia as a back-end for common terms is well-established practice on many, of not most, wikis) then that ban needs to be clarified. As it is, many terms and not just Steampunk are using redirected links like this. Andy Dingley 17:42, 16 May 2011 (EDT)

No, I did not remove your edit to Steampunk because (in your words) "off-wiki redirects were against Wikifur practice". I removed it because there was nothing else in the article but the redirect, and that is just not how things are done here. If you feel there is a poor use of WikiMedia you are welcome to take it up with GreenReaper.--Higgs Raccoon 17:52, 16 May 2011 (EDT)
So why is there now no content at all under Steampunk? If off-WikiFur redirects are a problem, then the article shouldn't have been deleted in the first place.
Or is steampunk just one of those topics that isn't to be talked about at WikiFur?
The sad thing is that I'm only here because I've been dragged into a political bunfight within the UK steampunk community about the appropriateness of Fur. There is a widely held view that there isn't any place for it, a view I see as narrow-minded on the part of those steampunks. When pushed, they defend this on the basis of "You don't want to get involved with those Furries, they'll turn and bite you" (not a view I've ever held). Yet moments after I turn up and start trying to expand Steamfurry coverage here, I do indeed find that they're pounced on and reverted, and the steampunk article blanked entirely! Do I have to admit I was wrong here and that it's not the Steampunks who have a problem with Fur, it's the Furries who have the problem with Steampunk?! Andy Dingley 18:06, 16 May 2011 (EDT)
So why is there now no content at all under Steampunk? If off-WikiFur redirects are a problem, then the article shouldn't have been deleted in the first place.
There is currently no content at Steampunk because (...looks at deleted content...) the original article there was not deemed appropriate for WikiFur. It was a nice potted description of Steampunk but "furry" was not even mentioned. Hence it was not considered relevant for WikiFur, especially since nothing was said that Wikipedia did not already cover more fully.
That deletion was in 2006. That was a while ago, so if, since then, there has been more overlap between the two fandoms, then it may be appropriate to have a Steampunk article on WikiFur. But it would need to be written in such a way that makes it relevant. (ie detailing the crossover between the two genres and emphasising the "steamfur" aspects not covered in other wikis.)--Higgs Raccoon 18:43, 16 May 2011 (EDT)
I don't think we have any "problem" with steampunk. However, the topic also has no clear relevance to furry fandom, and Wikipedia has a quite adequate article on the topic. In such situations - to avoid useless duplication of effort - we instead link directly to Wikipedia, and require that any article created be restricted to matters which relate directly to furry fandom. The article which once existed on the topic did not contain any such material, and so it was deleted. If you would like to create an article detailing the influence of steampunk on furry fandom (or vice versa), you are welcome to do so. But do it first. Creating a redirect and changing articles which currently use a direct interwiki link to point to that redirect merely adds a needless level of indirection for readers, and so decreases the quality of those articles. That is why your change was reverted. --GreenReaper(talk) 19:39, 16 May 2011 (EDT)

By the way, I suggested a few solutions for such situations. It's "no article" template for red links that are unlikely to become articles in near future, but might as well in far perspective; and Furry potential template for articles that can be expanded with furry-related information. EvilCat 18:11, 16 May 2011 (EDT)

What is steampunk, exactly, and how much does it have to do with furry? Because, if done properly, I'm all for having it included. Equivamp 19:54, 16 May 2011 (EDT)

Wikipedia's article on the topic is an excellent answer to the first part of that, which is why we link to it. As for the second, well, that's the question, isn't it? :-) --GreenReaper(talk) 19:56, 16 May 2011 (EDT)
I think I know two steampunk settings that have furry races. The first is Victoriana (it has plenty), and the second one is "Sorcery & Steam" (this I will have to double-check, but I think there were some). EvilCat 20:05, 16 May 2011 (EDT)
  • (sorry for my delay in responding)
The point here isn't really to do with Steampunk, it's the much broader point to do with "encyclopedia scope" as it applies to WikiFur.
There are a number of articles that are far from "Fur specific", are described elsewhere, and are of peripheral relevance to Fur. Should these be included here, or should off-Fur links and redirects be used to take readers towards them? Examples would be Trekker, Steampunk and overlocker (a specialised sewing machine, most useful for sewing jersey fur fabrics when costuming). None of these are Fur-specific, they're all described outside on other sites, `1but they're all legitimate terms that need to appear in any complete discussion of Fur. Costumed lifestyle fandom can't explain its history without Trek, LARP or cosplay. When these terms are used on WikiFur, they need to be easy bluelinks - anything else is letting down the reader.
Now I don't care how it's to be done - this isn't my party, I have no intention to start telling others how to run their scene. However WikiFur ought to decide what's best, links outside to existing articles (usually Wikipedia, or else some TrekWikia / CosplayWikia / SewingWikia), content hosted here within WikiFur (after all, Wikipedia content is reusable by a simple import). What's bad though is to either leave these as unlinks or redlinks (hard on the reader) or to have to continually use pseudo-namespaces, like the convoluted [[:wikipedia:Steampunk|steampunk]] that was in Grandville (hard on content editors). Both of these suck and have easy technical fixes.
Should automatic and invisible off-WikiFur redirects be allowed? Maybe not - that's a judgement for the WikiFur community to make. However that's what's currently there on Grandville. Should these links be "trapped" and warned? Maybe - so create the centralised Steampunk page here on WikiFur and use a template to wrap the off-site link up in a box. It's WikiFur's call as to which is most appropriate for the community, but neither redlinks nor hard-coded links, as at present, are the best way to do this. Andy Dingley 08:49, 19 May 2011 (EDT)
I came here to write a Steamfurry article, on the cross-over between the two scenes. It's highly relevant to WikiFur. It has been around in mass-media for decades, since "Around the World with Willy Fog" (Around the World in 80 Days, with cartoon anthros). Now it's perhaps best known through Grandville. There's a very small, but noticeable, steamfurry scene within some steampunk groups (lots of avians, for some reason). There's also a vociferous anti-Fur campaign within UK steampunk that deserves mention.
As to whether a steampunk article is needed here, then see above. It's a peripheral background, no-one is claiming it's part of Fur, but that's still (see above) something that warrants mention on the site, because readers will be clicking to try and read it for the background. Andy Dingley 08:54, 19 May 2011 (EDT)

Talk Page[edit]

Any paticular reason you like changing people's talkpages? TyVulpine 13:01, 18 May 2011 (EDT)

It was just a welcome message; generally it is a better idea to leave all the information on your talk page unless it is outright bullying. Equivamp 13:03, 18 May 2011 (EDT)

Ceil Fox[edit]

Thanks for that - everytime I tried adding the image to the article, it looked squished, so I left it out :) Bezel 08:58, 3 June 2011 (EDT) Also, why change the category order ? I wasn't aware that it made much difference.... Bezel 09:00, 3 June 2011 (EDT)

No problem. The category order doesn't really make any difference, but I tweaked it so it followed the "standard" category order. We generally go: People, then activity-related categories (Artists, Fursuiters, Musicians, Con Staff, etc), then character-related categories (like species), then geographical location, then dates (Birth, Death).--Higgs Raccoon 09:13, 3 June 2011 (EDT)

Notability / verifiability etc.[edit]

Sorry to bother you, but since this isn't Wikipedia, the verifiability / notability criteria are somewhat different, and I need some guidance - or at least pointing in the direction of some guidelines....

Basically, I was looking at the dead-end pages, and came across The Taylyin Railway - ostensibly a "short novel". Now, if this were WP, as you know, there would have to be indication that not only was this notable enough for inclusion, but also that it actually existed. Since it seems to be a piece of fan fiction written by Jacen Wallcroft, and since he doesn't seem to be notable enough to have anything published mainstream (i.e. outside the fandom), I was wondering whether the novel article should be included, deleted, or merged into the author's article ? This also leads to a further question - WikiFur (afaik) basically says that *any* fur can have an article - ok, but what about fan fiction that they may create ? Mainstream or widely available works, yes, but what about short stories, novels, poems etc. ? At what point do these pieces of work deserve articles of their own (or even inclusion in Wikifur ?). Does there have to be proof that the piece of work even exists ?!

A coda to this is - what constitutes self-advertising/promotion, and is it allowed on Wikifur ?

Any guidance you can give would be appreciated :) Bezel 11:18, 3 June 2011 (EDT)

I've added the "appropriate?" tag to the article in question, to see what other people think, but my feeling is that works-in-progress shouldn't be included on WikiFur. (Especially since they may or may ever be finished.)
I feel completed works should be included as a subsection in their authors' articles, unless they are particularly noteworthy - for example, something by a major established furry writer which has been formally published as a physical book probably would deserve its own article.--Higgs Raccoon 22:58, 6 June 2011 (EDT)

Forfaox[edit]

Curses, I keep forgetting to put references *after* the punctuation, and that's the second time I've missed out the specific species category....must try harder ! :) Bezel 07:04, 10 June 2011 (EDT)

New users[edit]

Hi - since you seem to be active at the moment, if I'm adding a welcome message to a new users talk page, should I be using Hi Higgs Raccoon, Welcome to WikiFur! Thank you for registering an account - we look forward to working with you. Let us know if you need any help not already provided. If you would like help creating an article or just editing it, don't hesitate to consult the Furry Book of Style or just contact a curator. Have a nice day! :-) / Welcome to WikiFur, and thank you for your recent contributions! Don't forget, you can get a free account (why should I?). Let us know if you need any help not already provided. :-), or Hello, Higgs Raccoon, and welcome to WikiFur! How about you get started by creating a page about yourself? Simply go to Higgs Raccoon (or your primary fandom name) and start typing! If you need help, please be sure to read The Furry Book of Style, and if you're still stumped, try the Help desk or contact a curator. , or something else entirely ? I'm not totally certain of which template to use (I've just been using what a few other editors have been using), and I was never totally clear about ising susbst anyway.... Using what other editors use is probably a good start. The different "welcomes" are:
{{anon-welcome}} if you want to welcome a user who has not registered an account (ie just appears as an IP address).
{{article-welcome}} if a registered user has just created an article about themselves.
{{welcome}} if you want to give a general welcome to a registered user.
{{welcome-vanity}} if you want to suggest a newly-registered user make a vanity page about themselves.

Thanks - should I be concerned about using "subst" at all when adding them ? Bezel 09:13, 16 June 2011 (EDT)
I'm not sure if it makes any difference. {{welcome}} seems to be have the same effect as {{subst:welcome}}--Higgs Raccoon 09:22, 16 June 2011 (EDT)
Many thanks - and apologies for the gibberish at the start of this item - that's what comes of not using the "nowiki" tag - d'oh ! Bezel 09:25, 16 June 2011 (EDT)

Featured article vandalism[edit]

Ahh - didn't think to use a redirect to fix it ! Nice catch ! XD Bezel 02:50, 20 June 2011 (EDT)

SpaceFox Says[edit]

Thanks Higgs for the edits, very professional.

Thank you[edit]

Im fairly new to wiki editing and thanks for the tips you left in the history for my page, and for making Frostee's Page in the first place! Also, thanks for helping with the 'Utah Furries' article, once the page starts to have the correct info on it, it keeps getting reverted back with no explanation on the discussion or history.--FrosteeDFox 16:30, 14 July 2011 (EDT)

Userpage roll back[edit]

Hello there Higg's, I really think your doing a great job helping the wiki keep clean and spammer free but is it possible for my page go back to the way it was, it took nearly 2 weeks to get the wording right and make it look good. I know you have final call on things but I would really appreciate it if I could roll my wiki back. to the (20:21, 16 July 2011) with just the Bishop page and not the new one. (Bishop 22:06, 16 July 2011 (EDT))

WikiFur articles need to conform to a certain format and standard of writing (including using apostrophes correctly), which your original article did not quite meet (hence my edits). I don't feel it would be in the best interests of the article to roll the edit back. Your User Page, on the other hand, is all yours and can be written any way you want. Thus I have copied the edit you want to keep (from 16 July) over to User:Bishop, where you will find it now.--Higgs Raccoon 02:15, 17 July 2011 (EDT)

Care to join in a cleaning project?[edit]

At the moment I've got User:Sine/CleanupStubs showing Category:Articles that need to be wikified from smallest size on up. I was thinking it might be a cleanup project you'd like to take part in, but no worries if the idea doesn't strike your fancy! -- Sine 15:12, 28 July 2011 (EDT)

Things to do today, but I might pick at the list later.--Higgs Raccoon 19:14, 28 July 2011 (EDT)

Private information leak[edit]

hi, I came across http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Buddy through a friend, it has been edited several times to contain the information of the suits' owner, i speak to the suiter on regular basis and he has expressed that he does not want this information out in public. i have taken the info down 3 times now, and my friend has as well. is there some way to lock the page until "buddy" contacts and shows approval of this information release.

thank you!

wolfsangel slade.

Cont. Update, "Buddy" suit owner. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.[...] With regards to the Wiki, while I don't hold back if people do know that I play buddy, I don't advertise that I do. If there happen to be pictures or commissions of him that point to me, so be it. Thanks for reaching out to me.

this was his reply to my alert to the release of his name to the suit, so may i request that the page be "locked" and only allowed to be edited by members?

thank you a head of time,

wolfsangel slade.

Given the lateness of the local hour, I don't have time to deal with this now, but I would suggest you open up discussion on Talk:Buddy. In particular, you should clarify who the people are who are involved and who actually owns/did own the fursuit. To be honest, if the suit has changed hands them I can't see why it would be a problem to state that.--Higgs Raccoon 12:05, 15 August 2011 (EDT)

the suit has never changed hands, it is a "secret" suit, the only owner of this suit prefers that no one just tells people who "buddy" is underneath, this is why i deemed it as "private information leak" due to the owner not wanting this information out and publicized.

Dead images[edit]

Some images that appear as red links aren't really dead. To my knowledge, it's a tricky cache error that can't be fixed yet. The images can be restored with a purge action (like this). EvilCat 06:25, 21 August 2011 (EDT)
