Talk:Timeline of Internet coverage
From WikiFur, the furry encyclopedia.
What to do about items such as Let's Pretend We're Bunny Rabbits, posted on the blog of Westword, and an item from Xtra? I think those are more media coverage, and indeed they are currently on Timeline of media coverage, not this one. Does anyone else have thoughts on this? Should this timeline and category be renamed for clarity, perhaps? I do think that mention of furry on w ebsite, be it Something Awful or Deviant Desires, or a personal blog, is quite a different thing from articles or other pieces in newspapers and magazines. And what about (web)comic coverage, as mentioned at Talk:List of webcomics that reference furry? -- Sine 18:51, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- There is something of a difference between "official" news sources, and unofficial websites where people may post their opinion. Webcomics would tend towards being the latter, I think. I do wonder about references in comics that are not webcomics, though. As for the "blog", it's informal news reporting, but Westword is still a news source - that's just how they present some of their news. --GreenReaper(talk) 09:17, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
- There is more discussion about references in comics over at Talk:List of webcomics that reference furry. On another angle, I've been considering what I perceive to be the difference between Media coverage and Internet coverage, in the context of the Timelines and categories here on WikiFur. I think the disctinction is something about intended readership, that internet coverage is not, essentially, aimed beyond those who are already fans or otherwise readers of the website, webcomic, etc. -- Sine 19:35, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
