Talk:Hexaped
I rewrote the stuff about skeletal limbs because it clearly doesn't fit insects (unless skeletal refers to exoskeletal). I know what the article is trying to say, but I'm trying to express it in a more consistent way. However, I'm a little confused about the wings. Are they normally counted when deciding the leg count?
If there is no formal definition for hexapedality I suggest limiting it just to furs with six arms and legs. It makes more sense. Hawthorn 14:43, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Can I change this page?[edit]
I really feel the definition of hexaped given here is wrong. I know of no one who would call a pegasus a hexaped - whatever wings once were in evolutionary time, I haven't seen anyone count them when counting legs and arms.
I wouldn't ask except that changing it would remove most of the page, and I'd like to clarify the definition. Therefore, I suggest that an n-ped is any animal with n arms/legs.
A clarification can also be made between form and gait - for example, a centaur is hexapedal, but has a quadrupedal gait.

Hexapod or Hexaped?[edit]
Since tetrapod is not always quadruped, can I say -pod means that number of limbs, while -ped means that number of legs? (A leg is the limb which always walk on the ground.)--BGs 09:26, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
