This version of WikiFur, administered by Sonotairoiro and GreenReaper, is slated to cater to the Japanese-speaking audience, which constitutes a majority in the nation of Japan and ethnolinguistic minorities in the United States, Canada and Brazil. The nation of Japan, in particular, plays a nascent but prominent role in the development of furry and anthropomorphic media in the 20th and 21st centuries due to the proliferation of depictions of anthropomorphic characters, known in Japan as kemono, throughout the history of Japanese graphic media, most recently in the video gaming, manga, and anime industries in Japan.
