Mascot[edit]

Aster as depicted by Folly854 on DeviantArt

The mascot of Furry Weekly is Aster the raccoon, designed by Zed Shirogane.[2] He made his debut on January 10, 2021 in Issue 181. As the writer of a magazine, Aster carries his tools of the trade: a pencil and notebook. The purple color scheme was chosen due to its historic association with Furry Weekly.[3]

History[edit]

Furry Weekly began life as a publication exclusive to Furry Amino. The inaugural issue was posted August 2, 2016.[4] Furry Weekly was the official magazine of Furry Amino until May of 2021,[citation needed] after which they continued to post to the platform in an unofficial capacity.

On July 11, 2021, Furry Weekly launched its own website, FurryWeekly.com, with Issue 196 being the first to feature there.[5] For a time, issues were hosted simultaneously on Furry Amino and the Furry Weekly website. Issue 233 was the last to appear on Furry Amino.[6] As of September 2022, new issues are posted solely to the Furry Weekly homepage.
