FurCode is a method of codifying information about members of the Furry Fandom. The current version of the FurCode (version 1.3) was created February 7, 1998 by Captain_Packrat.[1] The initial version was released on June 23, 1996.[1]

Inspiration[edit]

Captain_Packrat states being inspired by other similar codes, such as the Geek Code and the Cat Code.[1]

The idea behind the code was to allow furries to "easily convey our essential characteristics" to each other while "looking really cool".[1]
