This article is about the species term. For the person of this name, see Hybrid Wuff.

A hybrid is the offspring of mating two different species, or two different breeds of the same species.

Hybrids and furry

In the case of furry characters, a hybrid is frequently a cross of two largely or entirely unrelated species that cannot interbreed in real life, such as fox and wolf (commonly called a folf) or a tiger and skunk. The latter was popularized among furries by Max Black Rabbit's popular character, Zig Zag.

Feasible hybrids that are found amongst the fandom include the liger and tigon. While most hybrid characters tend to be mammal-mammal hybrids, there are a few cases which consist of a mix of species of two different classes, this kind being most often a reptile-mammal.
