History
On December 7, 2007, the (yet to be named then) Bad Dragon project was announced by Varka on his website, the Herpy Reference Archive. At the time, it was just a small side project of Varka's until he began his "research and development" phase.[clarify] It officially opened for business on June 6, 2008, and it was showcased at Anthrocon in 2008.
Bad Dragon originally had extensive character bios for each of their toys, including character art and fictional backgrounds. However, this began to be phased out around 2017 and has now been completely removed from the site.[citation needed]
To capitalize on the release of Bethesda Game Studios's action role-playing game, Fallout 4, Bad Dragon released a limited-edition run of Deathclaw dildos.[citation needed] They also changed the theme of their website to a Fallout-theme, and even commissioned[citation needed] furry musician Pepper Coyote a related accompanying album untitled Blast Radius, which played upon arrival to the website's front landing page.[citation needed]
Other services
Bad Dragon owns or sponsors several online furry services through its subsidiary, Dragonfruit Ventures, including the furry mature image board e621, F-list and a cache for Inkbunny.
They have also provided sponsorship for car racing,[1] including their sponsorship of Mick Blue Racing,[2] and for adult industry's movie awards, such as the 2023 TEA show awards.
Products
Bad Dragon's catalog of available toys and products is primarily inspired by the anatomy of real or fictional feral animals. However, in some instances, such as the anthro varieties, human characteristics have been incorporated into the toy design.
While Bad Dragon primarily produces dildoes and other toys intended to penetrate the user, they also have a range of penetrative toys (colloquially known as onaholes or sex sleeves), in addition to water-based lubricant (intended primarily for use with their dildoes' cumtubes),[clarify] silicone samples, and condoms produced by other companies such as Durex and Skyn.
Its production facility is located in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, with a small workshop used mainly for research in Scotland.[citation needed]
Shipping
Bad Dragon ships through Fedex and United Parcel Service, so international shipping is costly. Like most sex toy companies, orders arrive in a plain brown box with a return address and the company name is omitted from credit card or bank statements.
