Mary E. Lowd (also known as Ryffnah) is a science fiction and furry writer who lives in Eugene, Oregon, U.S.A.[1] She is married to fellow writer Daniel Lowd.
Writings
Mary is a member of the Furry Writers' Guild, as well as the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, the Cat Writers' Association, Broad Universe, and the Mid-Valley Willamette Writers.[1] She is also co-chair of the Wordos.
Mary's short fiction has appeared in a variety of venues, including Jim Baen's Universe, A Field Guide to Surreal Botany, and Belong: Interstellar Immigration Stories.[2] Her first novel was Otters In Space. Originally self-published in July, 2010, it was later picked up by FurPlanet.[3] A sequel, Otters In Space 2: Jupiter, Deadly was published in July 2013.[4]

Awards
"The Canoe Race", a short story by Mary and Daniel Lowd, won the 2012 Cóyotl Award for General Short Story.[6] Mary's short story "When a Cat Loves a Dog" won the 2014 Ursa Major Award for the category of "Best Anthropomorphic Short Fiction".[7]
Webcomic
Mary has her own space-opera webcomic, SPACE HOUNDS!. It is presented using photographs of Mary's real life dogs in front of a variety of home-made scenery and props.[8]
