RBW (originally Red Blue & White) is the UK's first and Europe's second largest furry convention. Held annually in London, England, it attracts furs from across the UK, Europe and the US. |
Background
Since the formation of the LondonFurs in 1998 it has been traditional for them to organize a special Christmas meal. However this tradition was broken in 2005 when no one took responsibility to arrange this event. When Rapido took responsibility for the group, he decided to make the Christmas meal a more formal event by organising the 'London Boat Party', which later became known as Red, Blue & White. This boat party is now a unique event at the heart of RBW.
RBW had its first event in 2006, which took place upon a River Thames party boat. The party included music and a live performance by 2, The Ranting Gryphon. The boat party sold out with 80 tickets being bought for the event and over 100 furs attending the day time activities.
In April 2007, RBW planners decided to expand the event from an evening party into a full 2 day (over the weekend) convention. While RBW 2007 continued to host the traditional boat party, it also offered attendees a wider range of activities across a broad spectrum of furry related interests, including fursuiting, art, games and general entertainment and many late programming additions. RBW 2007 sold a total of 242 tickets [1] . RBW 2007 also had a conbook, hotel affiliation, dealers and several Guests of Honour, mentioned below.
Work has already begun on planning for 2008, in which RBW will move to a hotel with convention facilities. It has now been confirmed that 2008 will include the evening River Thames cruise. The dates for RBW 2008 are 27th to the 30th November.
On July 20, 2008, Rapido, Bernie and Bunni all announced their resignations from the running and operation of RBW.[2]
